The exploration of metal, cloth & paper
with Leighanna Light
April 3-5, 2009
Fri: 2pm-7pm Sat/Sun: 10am-5pm
1 hr lunch each day
Please join mixed media artist Leighanna Light & immerse yourself in 3 glorious days of art making & 1 afternoon of junking (with your professional junker!). In this workshop, we will transform ordinary metal into a fabulous thick, chunky, beautifully embellished deck.
We will be exploring a variety of ways to use & distress metal, cloth, paper, & found objects, and you will learn a boatload of brand new ideas & techniques!
You will receive in depth instruction on how to work w/ metal, including...
• applying texture to metal
• metal transfers
• a variety of ways to forge, distress & mark metal
• how to add ink & paint as a design element
• how to use patinas to change the look of the metal
• cold connections, alternative ways to attach objects your work without using glue
• brand new metal altering techniques
• how to correctly use tools & products, including the dremel & dapping block
• working with object placement, composition & problem solving
• a variety of new surface design techniques
And finally, how to create a cohesive, themed project! You will leave with at least one unique, beautiful art deck that will be bound by decorative wire in the upper left corner. These can easily be transformed into a book or sculpture if you wish.
If you have already taken the vintage metal deck class, you will be happily surprised by the new size of this deck as well as the new techniques & information presented in this in depth workshop.
