Be intensely present at the feast of your life. Capture each unique moment in secret pockets, unique folds, mappings, rubbings, envelopes, etc. During the first session on Friday, we will learn the basic structure of this simple but flexible journal form. Even if you’ve never made a book before, you will master this technique by the end of the night. We will collect models, make templets, and brainstorm ideas and organize ourselves for our field trip.During the second session on Saturday, we will take a field trip to destinations chosen by the group members. While we journey, we will respond creatively doing whatever processes we choose to capture the experience. For example, some may do drawings or rubbings while others write their observations while still others take photographs. Perhaps some adventurous journalers will try various approaches throughout the day.
During the last session, we will organize and assemble our bounty in inventive ways. Then we will incorporate them into our journal form. Finally, we will celebrate by sharing our journals with each other.
